Best of 2014 – Eton College Highlights

blog Best of 2014 Eton College Highlights
As another year comes to a close, we look back on some of our favourite memories from 2014.

Nicole Beaulieu, Director of Operations:

I am always amazed by how good spirited the staff and faculty of Eton are. And I am grateful that I work with such a great team of happy, dedicated, and dynamic people. My favourite moment in 2014 was when we all went to the roof of the building and ‘Jumped for Eton‘ as part of our donation program for Decoda Literacy Solutions.

John Brouwer, Principal:

Sports day would be my favourite memory,  as we had never done this before. The students all came out and participated, and it was great fun for staff and students!

 Nazmi Kamal, Instructor:

The goofy outfits and the care-free moments we shared during Halloween speak of our unique individuality, creativity and friendliness. No reason to be surprised as a closer look into our year-round school culture echoes the remnants of that day, perhaps with a little less aesthetics.

 Mark Enright, Instructor:

I have two favourite memories that I would like to mention – Celebrating World Tourism Day and taking the Co-op class on a bike tour of Stanley Park. Eton College gave back to the community and celebrated the importance of tourism in our city by partaking for the first time in World Tourism Day celebrations. The event was celebrated with a bus full of eager students, a creative postcard designed to highlight the importance of the tourism industry, and a beach and park clean up to give back to the community.

“The co-op class cycled the Stanley Park Seawall as part of their practical hotel stay experience, where the students stayed in a hotel downtown to fully experience the hospitality industry in the city. Along with a walking tour, job shadowing and gaining industry experience, the class went on a beautiful bike ride around the seawall to understand one of the city’s best attractions.”

Sue Murthi, Student Services Coordinator:

This first ever Career Day was a huge success for the college, where more than 50 Alumni and equal number of current students had the rare opportunity to meet the industry leaders to network and introduce themselves.

Some of our industry partners from the Tourism and Hospitality industries gathered at Eton College to meet and screen hopeful candidates for future employment at their companies. Big names of industry such as WestJet, Delta Airlines, Vancouver Convention Centre, Sandman Hotel, Goway Travel, YVR Plaza Premium Lounge, Sun Chaser Villas, Fairmont Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel were among the employers that were present.
