PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program prepares students for a career as a Flight Attendant by providing a broad range of information about the airline industry as well as specific knowledge required for the role and responsibilities of the position. This comprehensive curriculum, which includes Canadian and international content, develops the necessary skills and knowledge base needed by students to qualify for a cabin crew position within the domestic or international airlines. The program consists of courses related to aviation geography, introduction to aviation and airline industry, onboard safety and emergency procedures, aviation security, airline customer service and Flight Attendant career preparation. The successful completion of this program gives students a competitive edge and contributes to jump-starting their career.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Analyze global geographic features and their significance to the aviation industry, demonstrating an understanding of world geography as it pertains to airline operations.
  • Describe the evolution of the airline industry and its current structure, including key regulatory bodies and their roles in aviation operations.
  • Evaluate and implement emergency procedures, including the deployment of safety equipment and the management of aircraft incidents, while adhering to crew responsibilities and protocols.
  • Assess security protocols for cabin safety, including passenger screening procedures and crew responsibilities in handling security-related incidents, while understanding the legal implications of aviation security regulations.
  • Implement exceptional customer service principles, demonstrating effective techniques for addressing passenger needs, complaints, and inquiries, while providing high-quality inflight service.
  • Develop a comprehensive career plan that includes skills development, networking strategies, and a deep understanding of the airline hiring process, preparing targeted application materials for specific roles in the industry.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in medical emergency response techniques, including first aid and CPR, while evaluating health and safety regulations to mitigate risks in aviation environments.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Basic Admission Requirements

  • High School Completion: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years of age.
  • Mature Student Status*: Applicants who have not completed high school and are at least 19 years of age may apply as a mature student.

*Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years old and have not completed high school or equivalent. The applicants will be considered for admission based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school. The applicant is required to provide the most recent transcripts or proof of academic accomplishments, a resume or summary of professional accomplishments, and two professional letters of recommendation. The applicant may be interviewed by the Registrar’s or Academic office to further assess their suitability for admission to the program of study.

2. English Language Proficiency

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Minimum scores from accepted English tests (e.g., IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, Duolingo 95, etc.).
  • Recent English proficiency test (within 2 years).
  • Proof of English-language education:
    • 2–3 years of secondary or post-secondary education completed in English in eligible countries.
    • International credentials must be recognized by WES, ICES, or IQAS.
