Overview

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.

Eton College’s career-focused Hospitality Management and Flight Attendant Preparation Diploma Program equips students for dynamic careers in aviation and hospitality. With a strong focus on vital skills, customer service excellence, safety protocols, and industry-specific knowledge, graduates are fully prepared for successful ventures in these industries.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply knowledge and understanding of all related businesses in the hospitality industry
  • Appraise and administer the responsibilities of a hospitality property’s accounting department while understanding financial related statements and the impact of inventory control systems
  • Appraise productivity and raise performance standards while applying human resources functions into motivational strategies
  • Demonstrate and organize a plan to increase profits while analyzing the demands of today’s guests
  • Demonstrate communication skills essential for effective leadership needs for supervisors and executive management
  • Design and construct a hospitality related business through effective marketing strategies
  • Evaluate and implement the current computerized accounting and property management systems required in all sectors of the hospitality industry
  • Evaluate hospitality management issues and leadership opportunities
  • Evaluate the ethical challenges of daily business decisions in the hospitality industry
  • Evaluate the impact of current technology in various areas of the hospitality industry while integrating guest safety and control guidelines required in daily operations
  • Evaluate the legal system in Canada and its impact in hospitality related industries
  • Evaluate the role of each staff member in maintaining high-quality service while maintaining a profitable enterprise
  • Examine food and beverage costs to establish profitable pricing which includes labour costs
  • Examine international negotiating issues and evaluate the fundamentals of international hotel human resources recruiting, hiring and training practices
  • Examine marketing and selling strategies for overcoming travel and trade barriers in a global community
  • Interpret the unique challenges and opportunities of hotel projects and evaluate government involvement affecting hospitality companies
  • Understand the importance of being knowledgeable in world geography and how to apply this knowledge to aviation industry.
  •  Identify global features (continents, hemispheres, significance of lines of latitude and longitude, time zones, Prime Meridian, equator, International Date Line)
  • Understand the application of and converting time to 24-hour clock
  • Identify the phonetic alphabet, three-letter airport codes and two-letter airline codes and use them in the appropriate context

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must provide a valid photo ID or birth certificate
  • Applicants must hold a high school diploma or be at least 19 years of age
  • Students under the age of 19 require their parent or guardian’s signature
  • Student must complete an intake with Admissions team member

Mandatory criteria for all applicants:

  • Meet one of the English Proficiency requirements
  • Medical insurance coverage
  • Flight attendant preparation entrance agreement, when applicable, and
  • Received approval from the Registrar

English proficiency requirements

Applicants must provide evidence of one of the following:

  • BC high school communications 12 ‐ minimum C+ (67‐72%) (or equivalent in another school system) or;
  • TOEFL PBT score 500, or CBT 173, or iBT 61 or;
  • IELTS ‐ minimum overall band test score 6 or;
  • CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) 7 or;
  • Successfully complete the Eton College Placement Test or;
  • Successfully complete the Eton College Business Environment Communications Program
