PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Construction Management Diploma program prepares students for entry-level and assistant roles in the construction industry by providing a solid foundation in project coordination, contract administration, cost estimation, scheduling, quality assurance, safety compliance, and construction technology.
Students also learn sustainable construction practices and develop strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively support senior management. Graduates are ready to contribute to construction projects as assistant construction managers, project support assistants, construction administrators, site coordination assistants, and similar roles.
Emphasis is placed on collaboration, communication, and supporting senior management to meet project objectives, maintain compliance with regulations, and promote safe, efficient, and high-quality construction practices.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Analyse the construction industry’s regulations, codes, and standards to ensure projects are compliant with legal and quality requirements.
- Interpret construction contracts and apply legal principles to effectively manage construction projects and resolve contractual disputes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in construction administration by coordinating project activities, managing documentation, and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Apply financial management techniques specific to construction, including budgeting, cost control, and financial planning, to ensure the economic viability of construction projects.
- Develop precise construction estimates by assessing material, labour, and equipment costs, leading to accurate and competitive project bids.
- Utilise design principles, equipment, and construction methods to optimise the planning and execution of construction projects, ensuring efficiency and innovation.
- Implement health and safety protocols to minimise risks and ensure the safety of workers and compliance with occupational safety regulations.
- Manage construction projects by developing comprehensive plans that integrate quality assurance, risk management, and scheduling techniques to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Implement effective marketing strategies and leadership approaches to promote construction services, manage teams, and foster strong client relationships.
- Incorporate human resource planning and technological advancements to enhance workforce management, communication, and the use of innovative technologies in construction management.
- Apply and maintain sustainable construction practices that incorporate environmental considerations, ensuring that projects are both economically viable and environmentally responsible.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Basic Admission Requirements
- High School Completion: Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years of age.
- Mature Student Status*: Applicants who have not completed high school and are at least 19 years of age, may apply as a mature student.
*Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years old and have not completed high school or equivalent. The applicants will be considered for admission based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school. The applicant is required to provide the most recent transcripts or proof of academic accomplishments, a resume or summary of professional accomplishments, and two professional letters of recommendation. The applicant may be interviewed by the Registrar’s or Academic office to further assess their suitability for admission to the program of study.
2. English Language Proficiency
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Minimum scores from accepted English tests (e.g., IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, Duolingo 95, etc.).
- Recent English proficiency test (within 2 years).
- Proof of English-language education:
- 2–3 years of secondary or post-secondary education completed in English in eligible countries.
- International credentials must be recognized by WES, ICES, or IQAS.
